My coverage of UFC 140 for ESPN.com continued today on what started as a rather snowy and cold day in Toronto with the weigh-in’s for tonight’s fights at the Air Canada Centre.
The main event features UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones defending his title against former champion Lyoto Machida. If Jones should defend his title, it would cap an incredible year for the young talent. Continue reading UFC 140 Weigh-In Photos→
Well, I never did get around to posting some of my work from the UFC on FOX show that I covered for ESPN.com in Anaheim, CA before heading to Houston this week to shoot the Chavez Jr. vs Manfredo show for HBO, but as luck would have it, the UFC work was featured on the front page of Sportsshooter.com today. So it looks as if I’ve been given a second chance. Continue reading UFC on FOX Sportsshooter Feature→
Continued my assignment for ESPN yesterday, shooting some of the best big men the UFC have to offer. Not only did Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos weigh-in for their anticipated showdown, but UFC President Dana White announced that Brock Lesnar will return to the Octagon to face Alistar Overeem in December. While I’m excited that I’ll be shooting tomorrow night’s action at the Honda Center, after the presser today, I’m a bit bummed I’m not shooting the Lesnar-Overeem bout, maybe with a little luck I’ll pick up an assignment for that. Continue on for slideshows from both events… Continue reading PHOTOS: UFC Big Men take Center Stage→
The UFC held workouts for media and fans at the UFC Gym in Rosemead, CA, ahead of their network debut on FOX this Saturday night. The fighters who worked out, spoke to the media and signed autographs for fans were UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez, Junior Dos Santos, Ben Henderson, and Clay Guida. Well Robinson Cano just hit a bomb, to get me up and inspired (yes they are still losing 3-1) to post up some photos from today’s UFC 136 workouts that took place at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, TX. Six fighters were on hand today to take part in the media workouts, including UFC Champs Frankie Edgar and Jose Aldo. Arrived in Houston today, just in time to head to the Toyota Center to shoot the final press conference for the highly anticipated UFC 136 fight card that takes place Saturday night. Headlining the card is the third fight between UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar, and challenger Gray Maynard. The two fought an epic battle on New Year’s day, that ended in a 5 round draw. Both look to put a definitive end to the rivalry on Saturday. The staredown was pretty heated, and if the fight is half as good as their second, the crowd is in for a treat. Shot the UFC on Versus 6 show at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. for ESPN.com on Saturday night, and UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz put on a solid performance defending his crown with a unanimous decision win over Demetrious Johnson over 5 rounds. I was recently interviewed by Mick Hammond of MMA Weekly regarding my photography work, specifically in the field of MMA/UFC. I’m finally getting around to posting it up on my site now. Thanks again to both Mick who did the article, and MMA Weekly editor Ken Pishna.
Continued the coverage of UFC on Versus 6 for ESPN.com, shooting the weigh-in’s today at the D.C. Armory in Washington D.C. Both UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz, and challenger Demetrius Johnson made weight, and look ready for their main event battle tomorrow night at the Verizon Center. The weigh-in had some good moments, including a funny weigh-in between Pat Barry and Stefan Struve, and a good Q&A with Mark Munoz, who was submitted in a surprise matchup.
